PROFILE

My name is Saad Burbank and I'm a qualified Arabic to English freelance translator with over five years professional experience. I have an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Birmingham, as well as a BA in Islamic Law and a Diploma in Arabic Language from the University of Madinah.
My specialisms include legal, religious, academic and business texts. In addition to translation, I also offer other linguistic services including subtitling, revision & editing, proofreading and transcription.

I passed all modules and my dissertation with distinction. My dissertation, which was on literary translation and included a 7,500 word translation of a novel, won second-place prize at the Society for Algerian Studies and LSE Middle East Centre’s Algerian Studies Master’s Prize 2020.

As well as my formal education in Arabic, for the duration of my undergraduate studies I lived in Saudi Arabia and thus have a very high level of fluency in both written and spoken Arabic.
My time of over six years in Saudi Arabia and my travel to Arabic-speaking countries, including Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of Arabic and Arab culture, in both formal settings and social environments.
